Creative Activity – One Word Story
Get everybody to sit in a circle. The group are going to create a brand new story together BUT they can only say one word each. Work your way around the circle, each person adding a word into the story to keep the story flowing. Go around as many times as you like until you can find a way to end the story. Somebody writing it down is a good idea.
Move this on by only being able to say a sentence of the story each. By the time it gets all the way around the circle the story should come to an end.
This is a brilliant activity to help children use their imagination and develop stories. There is no wrong answer, the children will think on the spot and whatever they say is accepted and woven into the story. Great for teamwork too.
I remember doing this at an INSET recently, the story was on a desert island and involved a mon goose on the loose, it was brilliant!
